Soul singer Freddie North started his professional career in 1969 cutting sides for Sam Phillips’ Phillips International label. After a spell cutting demos in Nashville for other artists, he teamed up with legendary producer Jerry Williams Jr. (aka Swamp Dogg) to cut an album. The first single, “She’s All I Got” entered the R&B chart in the summer of 1971 and stayed on the charts for 17 weeks, peaking at # 10. The subsequent album, titled “Friend,” would go on to be an underground hit, even entering the national R&B charts. Presented here is the original album, newly remastered.
